Why I Even Bother

I became interested in American politics after the attacks on the World Trade Center towers and Pentagon September 11, 2001. I began following what our leaders were doing at home and abroad and how the people of this nation responded. So far, I've been met with more disappointment than anything. I don't even really want to get this involved, yet I feel compelled to do so, as I can see narrowing opportunities and a decline in quality of life for my children and their children to be. I don't want them, years from now, to look at me and say "Why did you not at least say something?". Politics is not my area of expertise; I am an electrician by trade. You may wonder what a lowly tradesman is doing sticking his nose in where it doesn't belong...the fact of the matter is that it does belong. The things decided on Capitol Hill today will affect not only me and mine, but the rest of the world for years to come. I have a brain in my head and I'm not afraid to use it for more than absorbing the compelling contents of the latest reality show. Those who would like to CONTINUE following what the Kardashians are doing may want to start paying attention.
