Land Of The Free?

This is probably gonna piss some people off...that's ok...the people this would piss off I probably wouldn't like much anyway. Whether or not one actually has a choice in some things, such as homosexuality and gender identity is immaterial. I have some theories, but they have no bearing here. The issue I have is that in a free country, you have no right to force your inclusion, especially on private individuals and institutions. Take the Boy Scouts for example. They do not have to accept gays, as they are a private institution and can include or exclude anyone they wish. What gays do have the right to do, in a "free" country such as this, is start the Gay Scouts of America. Or whatever. They could probably come up with a way better name than I could. I think you'd find there would be much less resentment caused that way than through forced inclusion via coercion, political correctness, or abuse of the tax code. Stop scratching your head...I have heard the fact that since the Boy Scouts is a 501(c)3 tax exempt corporation, they have to accept gays used as an argument for including gays. That would be like me saying that since you accept food stamps and I pay taxes, you have to invite me over for Thanksgiving dinner. Thats just dumb. And understand, this applies across the board....not just to gays. If you really want this to be a free country, you'll do what you can not to take your freedom at the expense of another's, or soon it will be free for no one.

The War On Drugs...

...its time to end it. If you wanna candy up your nose or shoot up, then blow your brains out. Decriminalize it, spend the money we're spending trying to fight it on treatment programs and eventually the problem will burn itself out. Those who are going to do it will do it regardless of its legality...decriminalizing it will at least help remove the profit motive, which is a major contributing factor to the violent crime that is the real problem. Decrease the risk in selling and you remove the profit motive for major dealers. If you REALLY want to stop it, hit em in the pocketbook.

America has been called a melting pot, and that it certainly is. Never in the history of the world have so many cultures been gathered in one place under one government. At one time, I enjoyed the differences between people, the contrast between cultures, that, while not always, for the most part got along without much conflict. In this new melding of races, however, I see a couple different things happening. I see a loss of individual and cultural identity. I see mixed race couples used as a political tool to further the blending. Which really boils down to one thing...we really haven't learned to get along. No one, it seems, will be truly happy until everyone looks, thinks and acts the same. That to me, if diversity is TRULY the goal, is a failure. It is a failure of man to look at another's differences and be ok with it, to appreciate it. It smacks of a need for one to control or dominate another or think they are somehow entitled to compensation from this generation for the misdeeds of the past. While others speak from a historical perspective, I do not. I am responsible for the actions I've taken in this lifetime...nothing more. I owe no one for the deeds of my forbears. The world does not owe anyone anything, myself included. All I am owed is what I earn, and I do so as honestly as I'm able. Not everyone does, however. Voting yourself benefits you haven't earned is tantamount to armed robbery. Most don't seem to see it that way, but that's exactly what it is.

I think several books in this country ought to be taught in high school, including "Anthem" by Ayn Rand, "Civil Disobedience" by Henry David Thoreau, "Common Sense" by Thomas Paine, and The Constitution and the history of its amendments in its entirety, among other titles. And perhaps offer a course in comparative civics, noting differences between this country's system of government (as it should be, not how it is) and others...paying special attention to how services are paid for and what services are offered. Courses in both micro and macroeconomics should be offered, discussing the benefits and pitfalls of a fiat currency and central banking versus a currency backed by tangible goods and de-regulated banking. For starters.

Freedom Isn't What You Think

People, especially in America, say they want fair and equal treatment...but that isn't what they really want. What they really want is treatment that is more fair and equal for them as an individual and for those they consider part of whatever group they belong to. If we as a nation were to equitably apply our laws, there would be riots. If all of the people who unjustly have their hand out for a handout were cut off, the result would be the same. What it would take to fix this country, or at least bring it back from the brink, is something that no one appears to have the stomach for. The alternative for its not happening is a horrible thing to contemplate. The alternative is that the collapse I see coming has been orchestrated, both from within and without. Rome was not built in a day...it did not fall in a day, either. It took a combination of greed, corruption, a need for control, and a population that learned it could vote itself benefits from other peoples pockets. In a conversation with co workers today, we discussed a transgender that came into the infirmary. One said that sort of thing wasn't natural and shouldn't be allowed to exist. I am of the opinion that so long as they're not taking money out of my pocket or infringing on anyone elses freedom, such as the freedom for my co worker to call them a piece of queer garbage, they can knock their lights out. Its the second part of that equation that seems to be the hard part to get right, because the same thing that gives the transgender the right to be who they are also gives my co worker the right to say what he wants about it. People don't really want equal treatment...and therefore don't really want freedom.

To All Those Who Would Vote To Use....

...the power of their government to put a gun to another's head and take from them what they have earned and give it to someone who has not, I present this challenge...grow some balls and do it yourself. Take gun in hand, walk into any small business or household not receiving welfare benefits, place a gun to their head, and demand they hand over 25 to 35% of their earnings, then distribute it however you see fit. If you are unwilling to do that, you should not vote to have it done by proxy. To pretend that is not exactly what happens every time a vote is cast to extend benefits to those who did not earn it is delusion on a grand scale.
